After riding alongside my wife while she did a five-mile training run/walk, I hooked up with my wheel mates, Sandy S, Tom, Greg, Stephen, Rey and Ed, for a ride to Weston’s Einstein’s Coffee Shop. With the wind at our backs, it was relatively easy going from the meet-up spot all the way to Einstein’s.
Riding back to the meet-up spot from Einstein’s was a different story, however. With a steady 12 to 15 mph ESE wind hitting us squarely in our faces, I had to dig deep for some extra energy just to keep up with the two lead riders. The workout was good for me, though.
Thank you Sandy S and Tom for pushing me to new cycling heights, ahhh, I mean “Thank you for pulling me.”
My overall pace for the 33 miles was 10.7 mph, which includes 6 miles riding alongside my wife and 3 miles of sidewalk riding from the meet-up spot to home. However, my pace during the group ride was 14.18 mph.
It’s time for a late breakfast. As soon as breakfast is over with, I’m going to sit back and watch Race Across America and Bicycle Dreams. I can’t wait!
